BASICS is a service of the Office of Alcohol and Other Drug Programs and must follow all confidentiality requirements as outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996, other laws, and the internal policies of Hobart William Smith Colleges. Your BASICS program will be kept confidential. Only the professional staff of BASICS will see your individual responses.

The online assessment takes approximately 20 minutes. Please allow yourself adequate time and consider whether your environment provides the privacy you need. Once you start the assessment it is important that you finish it, rather than logging off and going back to it. Please be as honest and accurate as possible. This is not a test; it's ok to estimate answers if you are not sure.

Based on your answers, a Personalized Feedback Profile will be created for you. If you have a BASICS appointment scheduled, you will receive a copy of your Feedback Profile for review during your appointment. If you do not have a BASICS appointment, you may print out and review your Feedback Profile on your own.
